Mermaids is an Australian roundhouse that is fully clad in western red cedar. Sash and stained glass windows ensure that sunlight fills the upper floor, making the most of this unique 360 degree aspect.You will find yourself transported to a magical other-worldly time and place and experience; a stay the likes of which you won't find anywhere else on the south coast.
Entry to this home is via an elevated spiral boardwalk that expands out to an upper level wrap-around veranda and dining area. The upper level of the home is a fully modernised, yet traditionally built, Australian roundhouse with a rock and roll aesthetic. This hexagonal living space is completely open and has a modern kitchen, dining area, living area, flat screen smart TV, books, games and a large daybed perfect for relaxing away from it all.
Downstairs is a traditional cobb brick home with flagstone floors and inlaid coloured feature glass. These sustainable building choices adapt to, and make the most of, their setting. Furnishings seemlessly blend with their environment including a four-poster bed and slipper bath!
Outside is all about the Australiana experience, complete with a completely private corrugated tin outdoor shower and a fire pit that can be enjoyed outside or watched on from an enclosed sunroom.
There is much to see and do in St Georges Basin and Jervis Bay and Mermaids Rest is located right amongst it! Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, hiking, surfing, fishing, exploring National Parks, dolphin/whale watch cruises and much more.

A well-stocked kitchen with everything you’ll need to prepare a quick snack or full meal. Fridge, electric oven with gas cooktop, mini-dishwasher, kettle, toaster and microwave.

Completely secure wraparound deck on the top level with outdoor dining and gas BBQ.
Old fashioned bush garden full of native plants, a pond with a bridge over it, outdoor shower and fire pit.
Linen is included all year round. This includes sheets, pillow cases, doonas and blankets, bath towels, hand towels and bath mats. We will have the beds made for you when you arrive. You will need to bring your own beach towels.
This property is suitable for pets and has several separate securable areas outside. Pets are not allowed downstairs or on the furniture. An additional cleaning charge may apply if the home is left untidy due to your pet. You will need to ensure your 4-legged family member has been treated for fleas and ticks prior to arrival.
Whilst it is ramp accessed, this home is not wheelchair accessible.
This home is made of traditional mud brick building techniques and as such may not be suitable to major allergy sufferers as cobb stone can generate quite a bit of dust.
The outdoor areas have been designed to be pet and child securable but please note that they must be supervised at all times if in the lower level as the pond is not fenced.
The outhouses and chicken coop are not accessible for guests.
A bond of 500 must be secured by a valid Credit Card (not Debit/Credit). We accept Visa or MasterCard (not Amex or Diners).
Arrival and Departure Dates
We ask that you don't arrive before 3pm on the day of your booking. Where the property has been cleaned and is ready before 3pm, we will let you know that you can check in early. Departure is strictly 11am so that the cleaners have time to prepare the property for the next guests.
Parties, Functions and Gatherings
This property is surrounded by permanent residents. Guests that don't respect the neighbours will be evicted, forfeiting their full tariff and bond.
Rates and Availability
The rates displayed are based on low season and are a guide only. Peak periods and weekends incur a surcharge.
Christmas, New Year and early January: 7 night minimum stay.
Easter: 4 night minimum stay.
Long Weekends and late January: 3 night minimum stay.
